The Farmville Community Arts Council, Inc. is excited to be celebrating its 30th Anniversary with a Gala event featuring a blast from the past.  We will be featuring bits of our past shows, some of the art we have displayed over the yars, and tasty food and drinks.  The Big Emerald City Band will be providing music to dance the night away.  If that’s not enough entertainment for you, we will also have a silent auction throughout the evening.  Plan to come to our party on October 19, 2007!  We look forward to seeing you there!  Please call 252-753-3832 for further information.

It seems especially fitting that the first rock opera should have at its center a social and political rebel.  Jesus’ meteor-like rise in renown provides, as the title suggests, a parallel to contemporary celebrity worship.  As His radical teachings are evermore embraced, Judas increasingly questions the enlightened motives of this new prophet, resulting in betrayal.  Christ’s final days are dramatized with emotional intensity, thought-provoking edge and explosive theatricality.  Propelled by a stirring score, by turns driving and majestic, satirical and tender, Jesus Christ Superstar illuminates the transcendent power of the human spirit with a passion that goes straight to the heart.  Don’t miss this one!  The show will run April 10-13, 2008 with shows at 8:00 pm except on the 13th which is a matinee at 3:00 pm.  Tickets are $12 for members and $16 for general public.  Please call 252-753-3832 for further information.

Members of the newly renovated Meadowbrook Health Resort are dropping like flies, including famed chef Edith Chiles!  On the eve of the grand re-opening, this is not the best advertisement!  It’s up to John Stone, the manager, to find the cause and the murderer.  Delightfully sarcastic and cynical, Stone finds himself teaming up with Ed Parlor, mystery writer and amateur sleuth, in a wacky race against time.  The clues point to a sinister box of chocolates, and the suspects include all the outlandish characters working for the resort.  Do you dare eat our chocolate dessert?!  The show will run May 29-June 1, 2008 with shows at 8:00 pm except on the 1st which is a matinee at 3:00 pm.  Tickets are $12 for members and $16 for general public.  Please call 252-753-3832 for further information.
